April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is one of only a handful of female players of beach volleyball to be able to do so. She will be competing in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman, who is a first time Olympian. Ross is also hoping to win her very first Olympic medal. This may be the last time she has the chance at age 39. Nevertheless, she remains confident of achieving top honours. Ross was reported in NBC Boston as saying that when you perform at your very highest, and even do well, we'll get the gold. That's why I'm taking some luck also. Ross was born in California in Costa Mesa in 1982. She grew up in Costa Mesa with her father, mother and younger sister. She was able to participate in a myriad of sports in Newport Harbor High School. She was a basketball player and also ran track in addition to her volleyball skills in the indoors in her time as a college athlete. But she clearly was an edge over the other players in the latter sport. As per her biography her high school days, she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a setting (outside blocker). The award was presented to her as the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999 for her achievements. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross and Klineman are performing their roles since 2017. However, Ross was an important player in the world of beach volleyball before joining the duo. She has won major competitions with different players. The other has become an icon in the volleyball world. Between 2007 and 2013 she was in a partnership by Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Along with Kessy, Ross won an Olympic Title in 2009 when she competed internationally. They eventually won an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the team of legends who was the winners of the 2012 Olympics in London, beat them out to win the gold. Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she announced her retirement. They both won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. After high school and years before she hit the sand professionally, Ross balled out for the USC Trojans as a collegiate. The time she spent at USC was awe-inspiring. She was a All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2000 as a young freshman. Her Trojans made it to the Final Four. She endured a great personal defeat in her sophomore year however, she was able to achieve the All-American title. Through her two final years of participation in the Trojans program, she guided the Trojans to winning a national title every time. The achievements of each individual have established her as a volleyball legend. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross was not able to witness Ross achieve beach volleyball's top levels. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. However, she keeps her mother in her heart. Margie is a beach lover as well as in everyday life, inspires her.
